PESHAWAR – Families in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa hit by devastating flash floods have received a major consignment of relief goods from Sindh, in a gesture aimed at easing the crisis faced by thousands across the province.
At a ceremony held at the Governor House on Monday, Sindh’s Relief Minister Makhdoom Mahboob Zaman formally handed over the supplies to the Pakistan Red Crescent Society’s (PRCS) KP chapter. Senior Sindh officials, including Relief Department Secretary Akhtar Hussain Bugti and PDMA Sindh Director General Salman Shah, were also present.
What the Relief Includes
The shipment consists of 100 water filtration units, 4,000 ration bags, and 15 truckloads of food and non-food essentials. The ration packs carry everyday necessities such as flour, pulses, ghee, sugar, tea, and milk, all of which will be distributed in Buner district and other badly affected areas.
Political Leadership Shows Coordination
The relief drive, Sindh officials said, follows the directives of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. Minister Zaman stressed that Sindh will continue to assist flood-affected communities in KP, adding that Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and KP Governor Faisal Karim Kundi are in regular contact to coordinate future support.
“The people of KP will not be left alone in this difficult time,” Zaman assured during his address.
Cross-Provincial Solidarity
The event also marked the signing of an MoU between Sindh’s Relief Department and PRCS KP to strengthen cooperation in disaster response.
PPP KP President Muhammad Ali Shah Bacha and PRCS KP Vice Chairman Farzand Wazir both welcomed the gesture, thanking Sindh’s leadership and the people of the province for standing with KP once again. They recalled Sindh’s earlier support to residents of Kurram and said this latest effort underscored the importance of inter-provincial solidarity during crises.
