Barcelona, Spain – Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Faisal Karim Kundi, has urged swift action to provide relief and long-term rehabilitation for communities devastated by recent floods in the province. Speaking at a luncheon hosted by the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Spain chapter in Barcelona, Kundi emphasized that rebuilding lives and infrastructure must remain a top national priority.
The governor, who is currently on an official visit to Europe, noted that his trip was initially delayed because of the scale of destruction caused by flooding back home. “Our people are in urgent need of help, and this requires not only immediate aid but sustained rehabilitation efforts,” he said. Kundi revealed that he has been engaging with international humanitarian organizations during his visit to seek assistance for flood-affected regions of KP.
Advocacy Abroad: Representing Pakistan and Kashmir
Despite the delays, Kundi honored commitments to attend the Kashmir Conference in Brussels and the “Marka-e-Haq” Independence Day Convention in Barcelona. He praised PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s efforts to champion Pakistan’s and Kashmir’s positions internationally, drawing a parallel to Benazir Bhutto’s global advocacy during her tenure.
The governor also highlighted Pakistan’s strategic defense milestones, crediting Zulfikar Ali Bhutto for initiating the country’s nuclear program and Benazir Bhutto for expanding its missile capabilities. “These achievements have ensured Pakistan’s security and strengthened its standing on the world stage,” he remarked.
Overseas Pakistanis Urged to Step Up Support
Kundi stressed that Pakistan’s diaspora plays a critical role in the country’s progress and called on overseas Pakistanis to step forward in assisting flood victims. He encouraged donations through the Red Crescent, emphasizing that international solidarity is vital during this crisis.
The luncheon in Barcelona brought together leaders from both PPP and PML-N’s Spain chapters, including PPP Spain President Chaudhry Ishtiaq, Hafiz Abdul Razzaq Sadiq, and Ayaz Abbasi of Pak Federation Spain. PML-N Spain representatives, among them Raja Haji Asad, Imtiaz Akiya, Sajid Gondal, Pervaiz Jani, Faizullah Shahi, and Rizwan Kazmi, also shared their perspectives, signaling cross-party unity in support of relief efforts.
