BUNER – Relentless rainfall has triggered flash floods across parts of Buner, forcing authorities to declare an emergency as water from swollen streams surges into residential and commercial areas.
The district administration confirmed that floodwaters have entered market zones, prompting hurried evacuations of shopkeepers and families. Officials fear the situation could worsen if the heavy downpour continues, with several low-lying areas already under threat.
Deputy Commissioner Buner said emergency teams have been deployed to protect lives and property, with rescue operations on standby. “The water level is rising rapidly, and we’re taking all possible steps to respond,” he stated, urging residents to stay vigilant and cooperate with relief workers.
Authorities have warned of further flooding as the rain shows no sign of letting up, advising people living near water channels to move to safer ground.
This latest spell of severe weather underscores the region’s vulnerability to flash floods during the monsoon season, where inadequate drainage and steep terrain often leave communities at risk.
