ISLAMABAD – Gold lost ground in Pakistan on Tuesday as prices dropped by Rs1,100 per tola, according to figures released by the All Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewelers Association.
The new rate for 24-karat gold now stands at Rs356,600 per tola, down from Rs357,700 a day earlier. Similarly, the price of 10 grams of 24-karat gold declined by Rs943, settling at Rs305,727. For 22-karat gold, the same quantity slipped by Rs865 to Rs280,259.
In contrast, silver prices showed no movement, holding steady at Rs4,031 per tola and Rs3,455 for 10 grams.
Global Market Trend
The drop mirrors international market activity, where gold shed $11 per ounce, sliding to $3,339 from $3,350. Silver, however, stayed unchanged at $37.98 per ounce.
What It Means
Analysts note that the downward pressure on gold prices is closely tied to shifts in the global market. Any volatility in the dollar, interest rates, or geopolitical developments tends to ripple quickly into Pakistan’s bullion trade. For now, silver remains unaffected, but jewelers say demand in the local market is expected to stay cautious until prices stabilize.
